Halo - Beyonce

FYI
Halo is song written and produced by Ryan Tedder and Evan "Kidd" Bogart.

Halo was originally made for Leona Lewis, but failed to record the song. Lewis didn't have the ample time to record the song in the time that the producers wanted it released.

Review
Halo, a song that contains mainstream pop sound with the r&b touch from Beyonce's vocal magic, producers of this song made it simple making it glorious with the emotional lyrical content that can be give anybody goosebumps.

Keys Rolls Into Holidays With No. 1 Hits

December 20, 2007, 11:00 AM ET
Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.

As the Christmas holiday approaches, Alicia Keys is in control of the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts with "No One," which is No. 1 on those tallies for a fifth and tenth week, respectively. This week's charts are unpublished in Billboard but are available on Billboard.com and Billboard.biz.

However, Keys is in position to dethrone herself on both charts before long with "Like You'll Never See Me Again." That cut inches up 3-2 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and 19-13 on the Hot 100.

Flo-Rida's "Low" featuring T-Pain is the Hot 100's fastest-growing track at radio, and trades places 3-2 with Timbaland's "Apologize" featuring OneRepublic. Chris Brown's "Kiss Kiss" featuring T-Pain holds at No. 4, as does Fergie's "Clumsy" at No. 5 and Colbie Caillat's "Bubbly" at No. 6.

The Hot 100's top tier is rounded out by Finger Eleven's "Paralyzer," up to a new high with an 8-7 move, Jordin Sparks' "Tattoo" (10-8), Rihanna's "Hate That I Love You" featuring Ne-Yo (7-9) and Kanye West's "Good Life" featuring T-Pain (9-10).

Sara Bareilles' "Love Song" rockets 72-16 on the Hot 100 and 32-5 on Hot Digital Songs, thanks to digital sales of 74,000 copies. Bareilles appears in a new Rhapsody TV commercial in which she performs the song. The Hot 100's top debut is Jack Johnson's "If I Had Eyes" at No. 63.

Taylor Swift's "Our Song" reigns for a second week on Hot Country Songs, where the top debut is Garth Brooks' cover of Huey Lewis & the News' "Workin' for a Livin'" at No. 50. The song features Lewis himself.

The Foo Fighters' "The Pretender" begins an 18th week at No. 1 on the Modern Rock chart, extending a longevity record it set last week. Seether's "Fake It" starts a seventh week at No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock roundup.

Brown Fends Off Keys, Timbaland To Remain No. 1

Chris Brown's "Kiss Kiss" featuring T-Pain begins a third week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, again fending off Alicia Keys' "No One" (3-2) and Timbaland's "Apologize" featuring OneRepublic (2-3). Soulja Boy's "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" holds at No. 4, while Colbie Caillat's "Bubbly" jumps 6-5.

With an enormous 64-6 increase, newcomer Flo Rida makes a major impression with "Low." The track sold 131,000 digital downloads; it will appear on the artist's Poe Boy/Atlantic debut, due in the first quarter of 2008.

Kanye West's "Good Life" featuring T-Pain inches up 8-7, trading places with Baby Bash's "Cyclone," also featuring T-Pain. West's "Stronger" slides 6-9, while Finger Eleven's "Paralyzer" continues to climb, this week up 14-10.

T-Pain is a featured artist on four top 10 tracks this week, becoming the first act to achieve the feat since 50 Cent in 2005.

The chart's greatest digital gainer is Fergie's "Clumsy," which jumps 20-12. The top debut is DJ Felli's "Get Buck In Here" at No. 44. The cut, which features Didy, Akon, Ludacris and Lil Jon, is a career high chart placement for the KPRW Los Angeles night DJ.

Also new on the Hot 100 are Lifehouse's "From Where You Are" at No. 61, currently soundtracking an Allstate ad, and CSS' "Music Is My Hot Hot Sex" at No. 84.

Keys' "No One" is No. 1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for a fifth week, and another song from the artist, "Like You'll Never See Me Again," jumps 22-15. Keys' new J album, "As I Am," is expected to debut next week at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 next week.

On Hot Country Songs, Dierks Bentley claims his fift No. 1 with "Free and Easy (Down the Road I Go)." Alan Jackson has the top debut this week with "Small Town Southern Man" at No. 42, the first track from his next album, "Good Time." The Arista Nashville set is due early next year.

The Foo Fighters' "The Pretender" is No. 1 on the Modern Rock chart for a 13th week, and another Foo tune, "Long Road To Ruin," earns the most airplay ads and climbs 39-32. Seether's "Fake It" is No. 1 on Mainstream Rock for a second week.

Artist Update: Goo Goo Dolls

"The Goo Goo Dolls Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 -- The Singles" comes out Nov. 13, featuring 14 chart entries since "Name" gave the band its first Hot 100 berth in 1995. The album includes chart-toppers such as "Iris" and "Slide" as well as "Before It's Too Late (Sam and Mikaela's Theme)" from the "Transformers" film soundtrack. A "Vol. 2" is slated for February with B-sides, rarities, remixes and some new tracks.

By that time, Rzeznik tells Billboard.com, the Goos should be back in their Buffalo, N.Y., studio working on the follow-up to 2006's "Let Love In."

"I'm going into the studio in Buffalo in January and gonna hang out there until the record's done, which will probably be, like, June," Rzeznik says. He has "maybe six or eight (song) ideas floating around in my head," as well as a concrete idea of how he wants the album to sound.

"I want the next record to have a little more of an edge on it," Rzeznik explains. "I don't want the rough edges taken off so much. The band's gonna play live on it more, not so many overdubs. When we were on tour we recorded every single show and we would listen back, and the difference between the band on record and the band live was ... I want it to sound more like we do live. It's a lot more energy. It's a more aggressive sound."

Rzeznik says he'd also like the Goos to work with "a tougher producer" this time around, listing Gil Norton, Tim Palmer and Rich Costey (The Kills) among those who could push the band.

"We've learned so much from so many great people," Rzeznik says, "working with Rob Cavallo and Glen Ballard, Jack Joseph Puig and all those guys. I just think sometimes the albums may be a little too polished. I don't want to give you the idea I'm about to make a metal record or something; I still want to have good songwriting on the record, but I want some more muscle this time, too."

The Goos have one more show scheduled for this year, on New Year's Eve in Las Vegas.

Artist Update: Mariah Carey

The first official song title from Mariah's forthcoming album has been released. The track, entitled "For The Record," was written by Mariah, Bryan Michael Cox, and Taurian "Adonis" Shropshire. "For The Record" has been registered with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), a music copyright holding agency. Although it is the first title from Mariah's upcoming album to be registered, the song is not confirmed as the album's first single and may not even make the final cut of the album. An official statement regarding Mariah's new single is expected to be made within the coming weeks. Mariah's new album is currently scheduled to be released on December 4th.

Bryan Michael Cox and Taurian "Adonis" Shropshire are writing/producing partners. They have worked together on songs for the likes of Chris Brown, Omarion and Danity Kane, and separately for Mary J. Blige (Cox) and Alicia Keys (Shropshire). Both of them have also separately worked with Mariah before: Bryan Michael Cox co-wrote a few songs with Mariah including her #1 hit "We Belong Together" and Taurian "Adonis" Shropshire has worked with Mariah on "So Lonely" ft. Rihanna's 'Umbrella' Reigns Again On Hot 100

July 12, 2007, 10:50 AM ET
Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.

Rihanna's "Umbrella" begins a seventh week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, having successfully fended off Shop Boyz' "Party Like a Rockstar," which drops 2-4. Its newest competitor is Plain White T's' "Hey There Delilah," which inches up 3-2. Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry" is also climbing on the Hot 100 4-3, and with a 2-1 advance on the Pop 100, earns her the distinction of the first lead artist to notch four No. 1s on that tally.

Back on the Hot 100, T-Pain's "Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin')" holds at No. 5, while another song, "Bartender" featuring Akon, jumps 14-10. T-Pain thus becomes the first lead artist with two simultaneous Hot 100 top 10 hits since Akon in late January.

Timbaland's "The Way I Are" featuring Keri Hilson holds at No. 6, as does Maroon 5's "Makes Me Wonder" at No. 7. Hurricane Chris' "A Bay Bay" continues to rise with a 13-8 move, and T.I.'s "Big Things Poppin' (Do It)" jumps 11-9 in tandem with yesterday's No. 1 Billboard 200 debut for his latest Grand Hustle/Atlantic album, "T.I. vs. T.I.P."

After previously peaking at No. 7, Linkin Park's "What I've Done" rebounds 24-14 as the chart's greatest digital gainer. It also remains No. 1 on Billboard's Modern Rock chart for an astonishing 14th consecutive week.

T.I. has the Hot 100's top debut with the Wyclef Jean collaboration "You Know What It Is" at No. 68. Also new is Justin Timberlake's "Lovestoned" at No. 85 and the Goo Goo Dolls' "Before It's Too Late (Sam and Mikaela's Theme) at No. 86.

Fantasia's "When I See U" is No. 1 for a third week on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart but will face a challenge from Fabolous' "Make Me Better" featuring Ne-Yo, which is the chart's fastest growing track at radio and climbs 8-4.

On Hot Country Songs, Big & Rich claims its first No. 1 with "Lost in This Moment" after 22 weeks on the chart. The duo had never previously been higher than No. 11 on Hot Country Songs before the release of this single. Rascal Flatts' "Take Me There" is the chart's top debut at No. 24; the Kenny Chesney co-write is the first single from the group's Sept. 25 Lyric Street release.

Marco Antonio Solis' "Ojala" is No. 1 on Hot latin Songs for a third week, while Ozzy Osbourne leads Mainstream Rock for a third with "I Don't Wanna Stop."
